The Applied Immunization (Aimm) research team works to address real-world questions and challenges in immunization practices, policy, and public decision-making.

As lead of the Aimm team, Dr. MacDonald has a particular interest in addressing system-level barriers and supports to immunization, especially in under-served populations. As the mother of two young children, she feels passionate about promoting the health of families in Canada and worldwide.

A recent Faculty of Nursing profile describes the work of Aimm honours students who wanted to understand the use of intersectionality theory in Canadian immunization uptake research. This work was guided by valuable mentorship and support from more established Aimm trainees.
